Packing

Holy Cow.  My suitcase weighs 58lbs., but the airport only allows 50lbs.  There is absolutely nothing I want to take out.  This is stressful.  But the good news is that I have enough pills and creams to supply a hospital.  Those ailments better watch out.  I like this blogging thing, because I have followers.  It's like I'm Jesus.  Things I still need to pack:
-Imodium
-Contact Solution and Case
-Deodorant
-Toothpaste
-Ipod charger(in use now)
-Gift for my host mom

I'm very nervous that my flight out of Chicago will be delayed, and then I will miss the flight out of Atlanta to Costa Rica.  Hopefully everything will go well.  I emailed my host mom, Ana, yesterday and she already emailed me back.  She seems very nice, so I'm excited to meet her.

Sully looking very forlorn about me leaving. Happy New Year!

The Plan of Action

Hello Everyone.  This is my first blog post ever, and it's very exciting for me. I think I should start by describing my plan for the upcoming four months.  Throughout the month of January, I will be studying in San José, Costa Rica at Veritas University.  I will be completing a Spanish for the Health Professional course worth 6 credits.  I will stay with a host family within walking distance of the university.  One of my friends from UNI is staying with the same family, so that is nice. From February to May, I will volunteer in Jinotepe, Nicaragua with an organization called Base Camps International.  While there, I will work in a clinic called Silias Health Center.  The clinic specializes in maternal and sexual health for the impoverished community.  I will live in the Base Camps volunteer house with other volunteers from all over the world.

My flight leaves at 5:45am from Chicago on Sunday January, 2 2011.  I have a 45 minute layover in Atlanta, and then I arrive in  San José at 1:00pm.  I return to the US on May 6, 2011.
